NOTES

  • THIS PROBABLY DOES NOT WORK IN THE UK
  • REMOVE ANY AND ALL OTHER "LET ME WATCH THIS" CHANNELS BEFORE INSTALLING THIS ONE
  • ALWAYS TRY THE PRIMEWIRE URL YOU'VE CONFIGURED IN A WEB BROWSER BEFORE POSTING "IT DOES NOT WORK". MAYBE YOU ARE BLOCKED OR THE SOURCE SITE IT DOWN!

HelloHue for Plex and Philips Hue

Sync and control your Philips Hue lights with Plex!

Credits
This Channel is based on PlexWink by @vanstinator.

Behavior

This channel detects when a media is playing, paused or stopped on your Plex Clients. Then it checks if it's a video, the client name, and the user who owns the stream. If it matches your criteria it triggers your lights with the actions you have set up.
You can also turn your lights on and off inside the channel.

Configuration

The config is pretty simple and only needs to be done once. Configure your settings following the details below.
One room is composed of one client, one or multiple users and one or multiple lights, as well as the actions : on play, on stop, on pause, dim value, and only trigger if it's dark outside.

  • Plex.tv login is your Plex login.

  • Plex.tv passwords is your Plex password. It is only sent to plex.tv to get an identification token (so you must have a working internet access).

  • Plex Server Address is the local adress + port to reach your server (example : 127.0.0.1:32400).
  • Philips Hue Bridge Address is the ip address of your Philips Bridge.
  • Nearest city from your location Used to calculate to calculate sunrise/sunset hours at your location.
  • Activate HelloHue in room 1 Tick to activate room 1 (and fill the client, users and lights settings for room 1).
  • Name of plex client able to trigger in room 1 You can find the list of users in PMS -> settings -> devices. Only put ONE client per room. If your have two clients in the same room, activate an other room and fill the settings with the other clients name and the same lights names.
  • Name of the users able to trigger in room 1 You can find the list of users in PMS -> settings -> users -> myhome. You can put multiple users (comma separated values, case sensitive).
  • Name of the lights to trigger in room 1 is the list of lights that will be triggered in room 1. You can put multiple users (comma separated values, case sensitive).
  • When a media is playing in room 1 is the action that will fire when a media is playing in room 1.
  • When a media is paused in room 1 is the action that will fire when a media is paused in room 1.
  • When a media is stopped in room 1 is the action that will fire when a media is stopped in room 1.
  • Choose dim value in room 1 is the value your lights will dim to. (20 is the min brightness and 240 is max)
  • Randomize hue and saturation on Dim/Turn On in room 1 will randomize your light color each time the action turn on or dim is fired.
  • Only trigger lights if it's dark outside in room 1 Tick to only trigger your lights between sunrise and sunset.
  • Activate HelloHue in room 2 Same thing as Activate HelloHue in room 1 ...
  • ...

Usage

How to install:

  • go to Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/

  • If existing, delete HelloHue.bundle

  • get the release you want from https://github.com/ledge74/HelloHue/releases
  • unzip the release
  • restart your plex media server!!!
  • more indepth: see article on Plex website.

On first run:

  1. Configure your Channel preferences (see above for help, make sure that you are connected to the internet as the channel will request a token from plex.tv)
  2. Go to the channel (on any device)
  3. If you see, Press button and your bridge and click to connect click on this menu AFTER having pressed the physical button of your bridge.
  4. The click on Advanced --> Restart HelloHue
  5. If you see the menu My Lights then you are all good!
  6. Enjoy :)

Use the channel:

  • My Lights allows you to trigger your lights from the channel

  • Enable HelloHue disable the channel (stop listening to items being played)

  • Disable HelloHue resumes the channel (start listening to items being played)
  • Advanced --> ```Restart HelloHue`` takes into account your new Plex.TV login/password if you updated it in the channel settings.

[REL] PlexWink - Control your Wink and/or Philips Hue smart lights with Plex!

Plex Wink

Please do not submit log files here. PM them to me as they may contain sensitive information.

Philips Hue support has been added! It's not yet available via the UAS but it can be manually installed from GitHub. Once it's been tested and considered stable I'll push it to the UAS

Grab the latest 3.X.X release from the Unsupported App Store v2 or from https://github.com/vanstinator/PlexWink.bundle/releases

Major changes in this release. Lights, devices, and users are no longer configured via the channel settings. Logic is now contained in "rooms" that are dynamically created. See following text for instructions. Please post if you need help.

PlexWink is a Plex Channel that is designed to give Plex control of your home's smart lighting capabilities. The channel will monitor your Plex server for play criteria that you set up with the channel. If any of the criteria are met PlexWink will turn your lights off when Plex is playing a media item and will turn them back on when you are finished.

The channel logic is designed around the concept of a room. A room is just a collection of lights and clients. If you have multiple rooms in your home where you use Plex the channel supports that too! PlexWink can create and store as many rooms as one needs.

Creating a Room

To create a room in PlexWink click Create a Room and fill in the text field with the desired room name.

Plex Web will not show this button. Instead text must be entered in the search field. From the home screen of PlexWink type in the name of the room being created into the search field and hit enter.

PlexWink will take you back to the home screen of the channel where there will now be a button with the name of the new room you just created.

Adding lights and devices

Navigate to the home screen of PlexWink and click on the room that is to be configured. On the next screen click on Select lights. A list of the Wink light groups will be displayed. Select the groups you would like to trigger for this room. After selecting the lights click Select devices and select the devices that are in the room. These devices will determine whether or not Plex controls your lights when media playback is detected.

Support

Support is available on the Plex forums. Please do not open an issue on GitHub unless told by me or you have done sufficient technical analysis. I will close any issues that are not technical in nature. The forum thread where support can be had is https://forums.plex.tv/discussion/205647/rel-plexwink-control-your-wink-smart-lights-with-plex

Requirements

  • A current version of PMS
  • A Wink or Philips Hue Smart Hub and some at least one bulb
  • At least one group configured in Wink or Hue

The config is pretty simple. Fill out your plex login credentials, your wink credentials, and your wink API credentials. You can get the API keys by emailing support@winkapp.com.

BBC iPlayer plays only live streams; error returned for "regular" streaming

$

Hello - maybe someone out there can help me. iPlayer woked just fine until recently; however in the last couple of days I just can't play or stream any of the regular shows. The only thing I can stream are live TV feeds. I remember yesterday that I got this error "Conversion failed. The transcoder crashed..." everytime I tried to play anything except live streams.

Then Plex told me there is an update so I updated it -- and now I get a "Sorry, but we can't play this video" error instead (but live streams are still OK after uograde). I have Plex Media Server 1.3.3.3148 and I'm watching those streams on my Roku.

I can play anything in the browser, but not in PMS.

Any ideas? Thanks!

[REL] WebTools 2.x

$

0

About:

WebTools 2.x is a collection of utilities to help with the management of your Plex Server.
This plugin is not limited to the usual channel interface. Instead, it utilizes a built-in webserver to display a responsive web interface which also works on mobile devices, allowing you to manage your Plex Server from any device.

This tool was created by Dagalufh (Frontend) and Dane22 (Backend) with the beta testing from:

  • OttoKerner
  • sa2000
  • trumpy81
  • Xandi92
  • chuckpa

Currently the tools available are:

  • Logviewer

  • Subtitle Management

  • Unsupported AppStore
  • FindMedia

Logviewer

This tool allows for easy viewing of logs related to Plex and it's plugins via an easy to use web interface. It also gives you the ability to download all of the logs in a .zip file to easily send to a developer of a specific plugin.
(This includes logs of 3rd party plugins, contrary to the Log download button in Plex Web.)

Subtitle Management

The purpose of this tool is to give the user a way to manage subtitles that are not embedded.

Current features:

  • View the content of a subtitle file for easier identification.
  • Highlights the subtitle that is selected as active in Plex for a specific Movie or Episode
  • Removal of one or more subtitles. Usage is on your own risk as this will delete files on your hard drive.

Unsupported AppStore (UAS)

This tool was originally created by mikedm139 and was one of the most popular plugins in the Plex universe. Now, this is included in WebTools 2.0, giving it an easy to use web interface that allows for quick installation/removal/update of plugins.

For more information, please visit the UnsupportedAppStore thread

FindMedia

This tool will quickly search a library, and then compare the items in the Plex database to the actually accessible media files on disk. It will then list all missing items from either the Plex Media Server database, or from your file system. This tool combines the outcome from the 3rd party plugins "Find-Missing" and "Find-Unmatched".
Find-Unmatched is due to that discontinued, and removed from UAS.

User Guide:

It's with great pride, that we can announce, that one of the most dedicated Ninja's up here ( @trumpy81 ) has made a user guide, to the benefit of us all. It's fully integrated into WebTools and can be accessed via the help menu.

Installation:

Installation of WebTools is sadly a manual process, so here's what to do:

  • Download WebTools from GitHub, and select the file named WebTools.bundle.zip.
  • Extract it, and make sure, that the extracted directory is named: WebTools.bundle, it must end with .bundle
  • Make sure that inside the extracted directory, is a directory named "Contents", and if not, you might be a directory too low or high. If so, reorganize the folders with their contents.
  • Locate the plug-in folder of your Plex Media Server. For a support article about where that is, look here: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202915258-Where-is-the-Plex-Media-Server-data-directory-located-
  • Copy the organised folder from above to the plugin directory

The directory structure should look like this:

Plugins
   |_ WebTools.bundle
      |_ Contents

Now wait a couple of minutes, and then check in the channels directory to see if you have a channel named WebTools. If not, restart the Plex Media Server.

Note:

You can also use the EasyInstaller if your Plex Media Server is running on:

  • AsuStore
  • QNAP
  • Synology
  • Windows

If running Docker, this might be helpful
3rd party article about how to install
Official Wiki

Usage:

To use this plugin, just type http://<Your-PMS-IP>:33400 into your browser's address bar.
It's a good idea to bookmark it.
The initial screen will be different, depending on your PMS setup:

  • If you are signed in to Plex.tv on your PMS, you use the same credentials here as it authenticates towards Plex.tv
  • If you are not signed in to Plex.tv, and it’s your first launch, you are required to set a password to use when accessing WebTools. This can later be changed from within the tool if you need to. On all the consecutive visits to WebTools you will use that password.

After login you are presented with a list of available tools:

LogViewer

When accessing this tool it loads up the Plex Media Server log. You can then via the drop-down select the log you wish to see.
There are no extra preferences available for this tool.

Subtitle Management

When accessing this tool it fetches a list of available libraries and populates a menu at the top.
By selecting one of the libraries, the tool starts to fetch a set amount of data and presents it to you.
If it’s a TV library, you can continue moving down the tree until you hit an episode
You can then select one or more subtitles for removal, view a subtitle, or upload a new one
This tool offers some extra preferences other than the default for WebTools, refer to the built-in help file for more details

[REL] Plex Request Channel

Plex Request Channel

So I wanted to let my users request movies and TV Shows to be added to my server, but I didn't want to install another service so I made a Plex Channel for it. Plex Channel Development isn't the greatest but I think it works well enough.

You can find the bundle on Github at:
https://github.com/ngovil21/PlexRequestChannel.bundle

Features:

  • Allow users to search OpenMovieDatabase, TheMovieDatabase, TVDB for movies and tv shows, retrieving summaries and posters.
  • Manage the requests from users in one central location
  • Couchpotato and Sonarr support is integrated for automation. New: Manage Sonarr shows from within the plugin.
  • Pushbullet, Pushover, Email support is also included for notifications whenever a new request is made.

This will be a beta release so it may not be completely stable yet.

I have only tested this with PlexWeb and Android, so there may be more bugs on other platforms. Sometimes Plex won't want to show posters so you might have to manually change from list to another view format. Also in PlexWeb when entering in input, you have to use the searchbar, a new textbox won't pop up. On other platforms there you click the link and a box should pop up. The default Pushover key will have a limit of 7,000 hits per month, if you want to avoid this, you can use your own Pushover keys.

Let me know if there are bugs and feel free to fork the project on GitHub. If anyone would like to create some more icons that would be great as well.

* Note: Sharing Channels is currently a PlexPass only feature. See the following link on how to share channels

If you find a bug with the plugin, please post here or send me a PM with the Log. The location of the log can be found here:

[REL] IPTV.bundle - plug-in that plays IPTV streams from a M3U playlist

$

2016-03-21 Update: Now with EPG!

I was unable to find a plugin that would allow me to play custom streams, so after days of learning Python, with help of shopgirl284Mikedm139 and examples found on this forum, I created my first Plex plugin; I present You Plex plugin that plays network streams (a.k.a. IPTV) from a M3U playlist:

https://github.com/Cigaras/IPTV.bundle

Also available in Unsupported AppStore V2

OneTechGenius also made a video guide on how to set up various Plex channels including this one, You can find it on Youtube, a written version is also available.

Included sample playlist is outdated. You can find some playlists scattered along this thread (like posts #388, #399#407, #417#457#500#501 and so on) or just google for them.

At the moment plugin supports HTTP and RTSP streaming protocols, RTMP also works with some limitations, and MMS did not work for me on any device, some users report that it works in Android and Plex Web.

Please keep in mind that this plugin does not actually play videos by itself, it only passes links to Plex in a format understandable to Plex and the playback is done by Plex client, and it is a known fact that Plex Media Server does not transcode live streams so you might need a third party transcoder like VODServer if client is unable to transcode streams by itself, please read post #97 (especially Apple TV owners) and compatibility section of readme file for more information.

If plugin does not work for You or You don't like it or don't like Plex, but still want to watch IPTV on your Smart TV or other device, You can check post #194 for alternative solutions, but in any way please consider making a small donation if I was of any help for You.

And instead of summary, if someone of more experienced developers could spare a few minutes to test and review my plugin I would be more than grateful, please help me perfect it to be suitable for the App Store.

ComicReader is a Plex Channel that allows you to serve comic book archives that are stored on your server.

Currently it supports CBZ, CBR, and CB7 comic archives. CBZ is supported natively, while CBR and CB7 require unrar and 7zip. See the Readme on github for details.

The channel doesn't use a database or metadata, it just acts like a file browser that starts at the directory you specify in the channels preferences.

When I moved to plex media server v1.3.3.3148, the mythtv recordings plugin channel stopped working. I can view recordings, but playing them on different clients results in the following behavior:

Roku: Starting playback loads and the spinning wheel never gets past 33%.
Web client (Chrome): Recordings take a long time to start, but results in one of two behaviors:
1) Conversion fails, transcoder crashes.
2) Playback starts with audio only, no video.

Configuration:
Ubuntu 16.04, plexmediaserver version 1.3.3.3148
HDHomerun Connect (HDHR4-US)
Clients: Roku3, Roku2, Google Chrome v55.

Any tips to get past this behavior?

I am releasing a Google Music channel that should work for all Plex clients. I forked the current channel created by the user Maik and added a bunch of new features. If anyone has any issues please post your log files and I will be happy to take a look. Also, if you have any request for new features please let me know. I will be sending out a request to get this added to the Unsupported Appstore as well.

If you are running into any issues please post your log files. I won't be able to help you without them.

I'm trying to load the plugins for the unsupported channels and it's not working.

I downloaded the web tools bundle, extracted the files, copied them to the plugins folder under the plex folder and then tried to get to //127.0.0.1:33400/
I get 127.0.0.1 refused to connect
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

[REL] MythTV plug-in

Update: version 0.5beta has been released for beta-testing - see https://forums.plex.tv/topic/86644-mythtv-plug-in/page-13#entry852522 for features and other details.

Note: This is a beta-release, and will contain (even) more errors than a regular release. If you're not prepared to put up with this, wait for the regular 0.5 release which is expected in a couple of weeks (quicker if enough of you volunteer for beta-testing)

Update: version 0.4 fixes bug causing snippets of live TV (watched using the MythTV frontend) to appear as recordings

Note: PlexSync - which stopped working for recordings a while back - now works again after I upgraded my Ubuntu to Plex Media Server 0.9.11.4. I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't break again - but so far it's good (on iOS clients)

Update: version 0.3 fixes bug causing deleted recordings to remain visible.

Update: version 0.2 now supports PlexSync!

If you have a PlexPass account (required for the PlexSync feature, I believe), you can now sync MythTV recordings to you Plex client (e.g. iPad) for offline viewing. See http://mymediacenter.me/2012/11/26/new-plex-feature-plexsync/

Note: 2 lines of code on my part - all credit goes to the Plex team for the awesome PlexSync feature!

Guys,

I've had MythTV installed and working on my servers for ages (3-4 years) - primarily for recording TV - but is has always been a bit of a pain to actually play back the recordings on the TV in the family room.

So having enjoyed the ease-of-use of Plex with a Roku3 client for a while, I thought I'd try to make a plugin allowing me to watch MythTV recordings through Plex.

The result has passed the family test (ḱids & wife have used it for a couple of weeks now), so I thought I'd share the results, in case anyone else out there could use it:

The plug-in can be found at https://github.com/tschaumburg/MythRecordings.bundle, along with a wiki at https://github.com/tschaumburg/MythRecordings.bundle/wiki, including installation instructions and a load of screenshots.

Note that this plugin requires that you have a Linux server with a working MythTV backend (I can recommend the MythBuntu distribution, which wraps everything in one install - but expect the tuning of channels and setup of program guide data to be a bit cumbersome...:-).

Let me know if you find this useful - and contributions through github are most welcome!

Here's a screenshot (the gobbledegook in the programme descriptions is Danish - hopefully your EPG provider will have descriptions in your language!):

REQ: Indian TV Shows

Hello,

I have just started to use plex and it's been wonderful experience. I was wondering if some one can work on Channel for Indian TV shows, I know there are alot of paid plans but either they are restricted to only US or very expensive. I believe, if we can have a channel like that, it will add a good variety in plex.

Here are my suggestions -

1.) http://www.desirulez.net/

2.) http://apni.tv/serials

3.) http://www.boxtv.com/ - paid monthly

4.) Erosnow.com - It's Netflix for Indian movies - Paid

Thank you in advance, I will be happy to help and contribute if you need any other information.

G2Gfm working on iPhone but not Plex media server?!

Hi All,
Not sure what I'm doing wrong here and hoping someone can help. I'm trying to watch a movie (Nocturnal Animals) through G2G.fm (installed channel) via my Plex Media Server Mac mini plugged into plasma tv). It won't load the movie at all.

I've tried to start the same movie via the Plex App (channels/G2G.fm) on my iPhone and its starts no problem at all. I've made sure my Plex Media Server has the most recent update (which it does) but just can't work out why it won't work on the Plex Media Server but it will on the Plex App on my phone.

Any advice is appreciated!

Cheers,

Tom
