[REL] Dreambox plugin 0.1 is done

A first draft for your viewing pleasure

Hey everyone,
Early January I gave the very talented Sander a challenge, and we worked a week on it. The challenge was to try and create a Dreambox plugin which I could use in my setup which would fetch my cousins dreambox content.
I am pleased to say that we have a working first draft which you guys can tryout if you want to.

It uses the raw stream at a specific IP, but we also tried to build in support for having a transcoder at a seperate address in case people outside your network wants to view, but has limited bandwidth.
The development of that plugin is on hold at the moment, but you are welcome to try it out: https://github.com/sander1/Dreambox.bundle

Go into the plugin, choose preferences. In the host field you add the IP address to your dreambox. In the "web interface port" you add the port which the web interface uses. This plugin uses the web interface to change channels. The field called "Streaming video port" should contain the port from which you stream transcoded material (if any).

Maybe in the future Sander will have time to help me flesh this out, but for now this is what exists. Let me know how it works for you guys.


Limitations: This plugin is only tested with the web interface that is called Enigma Web Interface - Pli Edition. Until more development is done to support the Dreambox API, no other web interface will work I believe.

available on the channel directory
Just thought I'd post in here letting everyone know that it's available. The selection is limited, but the good thing is that most of the content is available in 720p and the quality has been pretty good. This is restricted to US only (but it works with VPN type solutions, or at least a couple I've tried).

If anyone has any issues please drop a note in here.

Newbie - This channel is not responding

I'm brand new to Plex and I noticed for some of my channels I get a message "This channel is not responding.". For example the MTV channel allows me to pick the artist and video I want to see but as soon as I click play I get the above message. Suggestions??

Kodi / XBMC has an excellent plugin for Fox Business. It is built into the Fox News plugin.

Is there any chance that Plex will offer this in the near future for Roku?

The Roku Channel Fox Business is far short of the Kodi plugin.

Show clips include Varney & Friends along with many other Financial Investing segments.

IPTV.bundle playlist problem

Hi, I've a problem with a playlist on Plex using IPTV.bundle.
I've installed it following the Cigaras's guide into my Mac ~Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins
I've replaced the sample one into IPTV.bundle\Content\Resources\playlist.m3u
All my streams into the playlist are .ts
This playlist work perfectly on VLC.
When I start IPTV plugin from Plex Server to charge the playlist channels (more than 100) I receive the message of script error and if I press the continue button the wheel turns without stopping.
The problem is the live stream channel type or the long list of channels?
Can you help me?

HDHRViewer instant crash Plex on FireTV FireOS 5.x

Anytime I try to watch anything on the FireTV with the HDHRViewer channel, Plex will instantly crashing when trying to watch a channel. There's no real reason given to the crash other than plex instantly existing back to the firetv dashboard

About:

WebTools 2.0 is a collection of utilities to help with the management of your Plex Server. This plugin is not limited to the usual channel interface, instead it utilizes a built in webserver to display a responsive web interface that also works from mobile devices allowing you to manage your Plex Server from any device.

This tool was created by Dagalufh (Frontend) and Dane22 (Backend) with the beta testing from:

  • Subtitle Management

Logviewer

This tool allows for easy viewing of logs related to Plex and it's plugins via an easy to use web interface. The tool also gives you the ability to download them in a .zip file to easily send to a developer of a specific plugin.

Subtitle Management

The purpose of this tool is to give the user a way to manage subtitles that are not downloaded by an agent.

Current features:

  • View subtitle file to make it easy to see witch file it really is.
  • Highlighting the subtitle that is selected as active in Plex for specific Movie or Episode
  • Removal of one or more subtitles. Usage is on your own risk as this will delete files on your hard drive.

This tool was originally created by mikedm139 and was one of the most popular plugins in the Plex universe. Now, this is included in WebTools 2.0, giving it an easy to use web interface that allows for quick installation/removal/update of plugins.

Installation

Installation of WebTools is sadly a manual process, so here's what to do:

  • Download WebTools from GitHub, and select the file named WebTools.bundle.zip.
  • Extract it, and make sure, that the extracted directory is named: WebTools.bundle, it must end with .bundle
  • Make sure that inside the extracted directory, is a directory named "Contents", and if not, you might be a directory too low or high, if so, reorganize the folders with their contents.
  • Locate the plug-in folder of your Plex Media Server. For a support article about where that is, look here: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/202915258-Where-is-the-Plex-Media-Server-data-directory-located-
  • Copy the organised folder from above to the plugin directory

Now wait a couple of minutes, and then check in the channels directory to see if you have a channel named WebTools, and If not, then restart the Plex Media Server.

Note: If your Plex Media Server is running on a QNAP, you can also use the WT Installer

The directory structure should look like this:

Usage

To use this plugin, just type http://<Your-PMS-IP>:33400 into your browsers address bar. It's a good idea to bookmark it.

The initial screen will be different depending on your PMS setup:

  • If you are signed in to Plex.tv on your PMS, you use the same credentials here as it authenticates towards Plex.tv
  • If you are not signed in to Plex.tv, and it’s your first launch, you are required to set a password to use when accessing WebTools. This can later be changed from within the tool if you need to. On all the consecutive visits to WebTools you will use that password.

After login you are presented with a list of available tools.

LogViewer

When accessing this tool it loads up the Plex Media Server log. You can then via the drop-down select the log you wish to see.

There are no extra preferences available for this tool.

Subtitle Management

When accessing this tool it fetches a list of available libraries and populates a menu at the top.

By selecting one of the libraries, the tool starts to fetch a set amount of data and present it to you.

If it’s a TV library, you can continue moving down the tree until you hit an episode.

You can then select one or more subtitles for removal.

This tool offers some extra preferences other than the default for WebTools:

  • Number of items per page (TV Shows, Seasons, Episodes, Movies)
  • Hide local subtitles
  • Hide integrated subtitles
  • Show only multiple subtitles/language
  • Show debug in logs

[REL] TV-Headend Next Generation

What can this channel do for you:

  • Stream TV from a TV-Headend service to web, mobile devices and Plex Home Theatre.
  • Choose between many different resolutions to reduce the datarate at mobile usage.
  • The tagged channels will be displayed as different bouquets.

 

What are the requirements?

  • Latest git checkout of TV-Headend. The new of the development introduced api is needed.
  • A little bit more cpu ressources, because this plugin relies on transcoding.

This is the official thread for

Plex2CSV

What this little app/channel can do, is simply to export your library sections into CSV files, allowing you to open up the exported files in like Excel or siml. afterwards.

Do note, that when doing so, to set the encoding to UTF-8

This plug-in will always be considered "a work in progress", and will change rapidly, if devs get an idea, or you guy's suggest something, so fire away

And can currently only export Movie and TV-Show and Audio sections

Escapist Channel Broken?

Is anyone else finding that the Escapist Channel no longer works?

From both the Web and Windows client it lists the available videos fine, but won't play anything: just spins for a few seconds then stops.

 

Is this a known issue, or a problem at my end?

Troubleshooting & FAQs

Spoiler:

If you have issues playing gamepass or gamerewind content make sure you have the quality settings set higher than the quality of stream that you are trying to play. e.g the highest quality that NFL offer is 4.5mbps 720p, so you need to have the quality settings in your plex player above 4.5mbps for it to play.

Clients that support encrypted HLS streams and can play live streams from this channel (regardless of PMS OS e.g. Mac, windows etc):

- Plex/iOS

- Plex Media Player
- PlexConnect
- Plex/Roku
- Plex Samsung Smart Hub (2011 or later)
- PS4
- Plex/Android (Seems dependant on certain settings and version of android so make sure you are up to date. Also try turning off experimental player in plex android settings)
- Plex/Amazon Fire TV

- Plex Client in Windows Store
- Possibly other DNLA clients? (Please post if you get live streams to work from this channel on clients not listed)

Q: I get an error message saying "Cannot play media" when playing live content from NFL Gamepass?

A: This is most likely because you are using a client that does not support encrypted HLS streams. See the above list for clients that support encrypted HLS.

Q: I get an error message saying "Cannot play media" when playing archived AND live content from NFL Gamepass or NFL Game Rewind?

A: Check your plex client preferences. You need to have the quality settings set higher than the quality of video you are trying to play. The highest quality that the NFL offer is 4.5mbps 720p, so have your quality settings higher than that.


Q: I'm using a VPN/Proxy/DNS service to give me access to NFL Gamepass but getting some problems, what can I do?

A: This will most likely be an issue with your VPN/Proxy/DNS service, you will need to take this issue to there support or start a separate thread in the forum. Please can I ask that you don't post any issues about this in this thread. I don't like this to be discussed as it breaks US/international copyright laws. Equally it would be hard to support something that is most likely an unrelated problem to the functionality of this channel.

Q: I can't see where to download this channel?

A: It is in the official Plex Channel Directory within a plex app or plex/web.

- (Gamepass) NFL Network Archived shows not working on Samsung.

- (Gamepass) No Gamepass content working on latest iOS Plex app due to a bug in the Plex App. Plex iOS team are working on it. However Plex/Web does work on Safari/iOS.

- (Gamepass) Plex/Web generally doesn't work with most popular browsers but I'm sure some web browsers are fine, apparently Microsoft Edge on Win10 is an example of a working browser.

- (Gamepass) Experimental player needs to be off for content to work on Plex/Android.

Can one of you nice developers make a channel for RT News USA? RT is actually a very good news station. RT already offeres their news for free on a very good 24/7 live stream on hteir website. Would seem maybe easy to adapt that stream to a Plex Channel.

Pluto.tv has a lot of interesting content including content from Hulu. It looks great on a computer via browser but it would be great to have this on Roku.
