Who fixes Plex Channel issues? South Park

I posted initially in the channel thread. Then one person tells me to post under the device section of what issue I'm currently experiencing. Another person tells me to post in the main channel. The issue is still not resolved. Who fixes Plex Channel issues?

Follow up question who wrote the South Park Channel. How to get in contact with them?

I have an HDHR3CC from past cut the cable endeavors. I have a slingbox that is a piece of crap and just randomly stopped working. I would like to access all of my content from one interface, via Plex Live streaming but I would like a fairly straight forward guide to doing so, does this exist?

My wife is addicted to Game of Thrones and we have been having a hard time getting it streaming.

She was referred to Exodus but seems like a Kodi specific add-on. Is anything like that for Plex?

I have Primewire, ssplex, and LMWT . I love Primewire but lately the sources are not very good as I am unable to get anything to play.
What channels are you all using that you love and could recommend that are currently working as of today. Kids love cartoons so if you have an excellent channel for them I would like to know. Thanks so much everyone.

All full episodes of HGTV are missing. I reinstalled the channel and restarted the server. I get a message"this channel is not responding" Any ideas?

Is there a way to see all episodes available for a particular channel by entering my cable provider?

For example if I load the A&E Plex channel, I only see the first 5 episodes from season 1 of Duck Dynasty. What is the point in loading a Plex Channel if I don't get access to additional content? I would think It would be like going to the A&E website, enter my cable provider, and then having access to all episodes of a particular TV show. Maybe I am not understanding the benefit of loading Plex Channels. Once I watch the limited episodes available, I might as well remove the channel.

Can't choose HD stream (720p) on BBC Iplayer on latest PMS versions on Roku

With the last two PMS releases, I lose the ability to choose the HD versions of shows via Roku.
Version 0.9.16.4 is the last one on which it seems to work. Before, it would choose the highest quality that met with the streaming quality I set in the server settings, but with the last two releases it automatically chooses an SD stream and has removed the version option from within the menu. If I view the same item on the servers desktop side, I can choose the resolution from the new "Quality" button on the bottom right of the video pane, but there's no analogous button on the Roku side.

I'm running PMS on Linux Mint 17.1
Roku 3 - 4200X

[REL] SickBeard Plugin

add shows to your SickBeard list, and see upcoming episodes

This plugin works with the SickBeard (SickBeard.com) to manage your television series. To use this plugin, you must have a working installation of SickBeard. Follow the link for download and dependencies. If you need a little help getting your SickBeard setup, try this tutorial. Download the attached installer and double-click to install the plugin. If you have questions/concerns/comments about installing/using SickBeard, please post them in the appropriate forum. If you are having trouble with the SickBeard plugin, please post a description of the problem as well as a zip file of the com.plexapp.plugins.sickbeard.log file from ~/Library/Logs/PMS Plugin Logs to this thread. This is only my second plugin, but I will do my best to troubleshoot and bug fix.

Installation Notes: By default, the plugin is configured to connect to SickBeard on the localhost and default port 8081, with no username or password. These can be changed in the plugin preferences as necessary. In order to be able to add shows to SickBeard using the plugin, the default TV directory must be entered in the plugin prefs, (eg. /Volumes/Media/TV/) .

Download:
Now available in the UnSupported Appstore

Future Development:
I don't plan on adding any extra features. Just keeping up with changes on the SickBeard project keep me busy enough.

A big thanks to the Plex Dev Team for all their hard work making Plex and the plugin framework.
Big thanks go to sander1 for all the help and coaching in the chat room.
Huge props to midgetspy for all the work he put into SickBeard which inspired this plugin in the first place.

[REL] RSS Feed

$

0

Here is a channel I created that can play an RSS feed for videos and music that have a Plex URL service or direct links to media files in the feed.

This channel is the RSS Feed section used in my Webisode channel - http://forums.plexapp.com/index.php/topic/71407-new-channel-webisodes/.

The channel can be added through the Unsupported Appstore.

The channel will only work if there is an existing Plex URL service for the website accessed in the feed or the RSS feed  includes a direct link to the media file listed in the RSS feed XML code. The channel has a built in function that will check for supported media files in the RSS feed. If there is no URL service or compatible media files in the RSS feed, the feed item will show as an icon with "NO URL Service or Media Files for Entry" as the title.

Latest Updates

1/12/2014 - Updated to fix archive.org issue and require less fields and support more feeds

1/6/2014-  Added additional support for feeds with media links

KNOWN CLIENT ISSUES/RESTRICTIONS: Known Client Issues or Restrictions:

Plex/Web (aka Media Manager)

You can view and play feeds on Plex/Web, but since Plex/Web does not support user entry screens, you cannot add new RSS feeds in Plex/Web even with the new version of Plex/Web (http://plex.tv/web/app).

You can currently copy and paste the url address of a new feed you would like to add into the search box at the top of the screen to add the channel. You must be within the directory for the type of show you would like to add. For example if you opened of the video directory which shows all of your currently installed video feeds, then you can paste the url of the new feed you would like to add in the search box of that page. A dialog box will appear and tell you that the rss feed has been added.

The Plex/Web client only updates once daily, so any changes made to the RSS Feed channel plugin will not show up immediately in Plex/Web. So even if you hit the refresh button, any RSS feeds that you add or delete will not be visible in Plex/Web for up to 24 hours. The only way around this is to clear the cache of the web browser you are running Plex/Web on.

IMPORTANT NOTES AND INSTRUCTIONS:

RSS Feeds with Direct Links to Media Files

RSS feeds require a Plex URL service or a direct link to the media files in the XML feed document. A list of websites with a Plex URL service is at https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200690288-Supported-Plex-It-Websites. With the Firefox browser, an RSS Feed with a direct link to the media files will have a title of "Media file" with the media file listed below. Media listed in the XML code as enclosure or media:content URL are recognized by the channel code. The channel can support RSS feed that show a media file of type mp3, m4a, mp4, and flv. Examples of  RSS feeds that have media files and provides direct access to the video files are http://thebrowncast.libsyn.com/rss and http://feeds.feedburner.com/techsnaplarge?format=xml.  The channel has a built in function that will check the media in the RSS feed. If there is no URL service or media files in the RSS feed, the entry will be listed as "No URL Service or Media Files for Entry,".

Roku Client

Roku users can benefit from using the Remoku remote control (available at http://remoku.tv/) to enter RSS feed URLs and thumb locations with cut and paste.

Additional Notes

Plex/Web has changed their interface yet again, so it does not support a user input screen, the search dialog box no longer supports input, so you must use another client to add RSS feeds. And, as stated above in the Known Client Issues or Limitations, the Plex/Web interface will only update once a day unless you clear your cache. So changes any changes you make to the RSS Feed channel plugin will be seen immediately in other Plex clients but will take a day to show up in the Plex/Web interface unless the cache is cleared for the browser you are using to access it.

With Feedburner pages, you may need to choose the "ViewFeedXML" link to get to the actual RSS feed URL.

For feeds with multiple media choices, the channel uses the default or first version of the media, since this tends to be the best quality. Feeds all use different attributes for media quality and some just use a naming scheme for the media file to denote the quality, so there is no consistent method that could be used to catalog and display the multiple options that may be given for the formats or qualities  of media that may be offered by a particular feed.

Library not showing

In troubleshooting with PlexNinja on a music library that never stops updating, I installed webtools and run "Find media", however, under options to select the library, my music library does not show up. I have a folder where my music is located.
Only the Movies library shows but my problem is with the music ones.

Structure is:
Media
L__Music
L__Movies

Any idea why the music library will not show?
Thanks in advance for your help

BBC iPlayer Channel requests transcoding when it's not necessary

$

0

I discovered this issue because PMS is running on a Seagate Personal Cloud that is too low powered for any transcoding. The BBC iPlayer Channel requests transcoding even when though this is not necessary as I am using clients (Amazon Fire TV & Roku 3) that are capable so are set to play Original Quality.

The error from the Fire TV is "The server is not powerful enough to convert video" whereas on the Roku 3 the error is "Conversion failed. The transcoder crashed or failed to start up."

The BBC iPlayer native applications on each client work flawlessly. Interestingly the Live TV streams do work on the Roku 3 Plex Channel. Hitting the * (Option) button gives me this information:-
Quality 720p (Original)
Direct Play Force
Audio Unknown (AAC Stereo)
Allow Direct Stream (ticked)
Vide H264
Playback Direct Play
Format hls
For those programmes that are not live if I hit the option button after the player appears but before the transcode failed error message the information displayed is identical apart from:-
Format mkv

[REL] IPTV.bundle - plugin that plays IPTV streams from a M3U playlist

2016-03-21 Update: Now with EPG!

I was unable to find a plugin that would allow me to play custom streams, so after days of learning Python, with help of shopgirl284Mikedm139 and examples found on this forum, I created my first Plex plugin; I present You Plex plugin that plays network streams (a.k.a. IPTV) from a M3U playlist:

https://github.com/Cigaras/IPTV.bundle

Also available in Unsupported AppStore V2

OneTechGenius also made a video guide on how to set up various Plex channels including this one, You can find it on Youtube, a written version is also available.

Included sample playlist is outdated. You can find some playlists scattered along this thread (like posts #388, #399#407, #417#457#500#501 and so on) or just google for them.

At the moment plugin supports HTTP and RTSP streaming protocols, RTMP also works with some limitations, and MMS did not work for me on any device, some users report that it works in Android and Plex Web.

Please keep in mind that this plugin does not actually play videos by itself, it only passes links to Plex in a format understandable to Plex and the playback is done by Plex client, and it is a known fact that Plex Media Server does not transcode live streams so you might need a third party transcoder like VODServer if client is unable to transcode streams by itself, please read post #97 (especially Apple TV owners) and compatibility section of readme file for more information.

If plugin does not work for You or You don't like it or don't like Plex, but still want to watch IPTV on your Smart TV or other device, You can check post #194 for alternative solutions, but in any way please consider making a small donation if I was of any help for You.

And instead of summary, if someone of more experienced developers could spare a few minutes to test and review my plugin I would be more than grateful, please help me perfect it to be suitable for the App Store.

[REL] Webisodes

$
0
0

I have written a new channel called Webisodes.  It is a channel to hold your favorite web series from different sources on the Internet. It will work with YouTube playlist and user uploads, Vimeo shows, and RSS Feeds (as long as there is an existing Plex URL service or there are links to the video files on the feed page). I have added two shows from each source by default, just to show you how the program works. It allows you delete shows and add a new show with just the URL address.

The channel is available through the Unsupported Appstore

The Unsupported Appstore is currently unable to update changes, so any updates will have to be manually downloaded from the Github site at https://github.com/shopgirl284/Webisodes.bundle

PLEASE READ THE FULL INSTRUCTIONS FOR CORRECT URL FORMAT FOR ADDING SHOWS. I have included these instructions in the user entry instructions text file in the Contents folder and the README file on GitHub. I will also post these instructions in a separate post below.

ROKU USERS: The Remoku web site http://remoku.tv/ makes it very easy for Roku users to copy and paste URLs. Since the current version of the Plex app for Roku does not support user input in channels, you can only add shows/URLs using the Classic version of the app. But both versions will allow you to browse and watch videos once a show/URL is added.

Plex/Web users must use the new http://plex.tv/web/app interface to paste urls using the search window (see full instructions below)

UPDATES AND CHANGES

11/2/2016 - Fixed issue with YouTube images and saving individual entries

4/27/2016 - Added code for YouTube to better handle playlist items

1/28/2016 - Removed references to Websites that no longer exists or are otherwise defunct like Yahoo Screens and BlipTV

8/11/2015 - Updated support for YouTube Section. Since YouTube v2 API support for playlist no longer works, users, channels, and playlists are produced as a list of playlists that then show a list of the first two pages of videos results for each playlists.

5/20/2015 - Updated support for YouTube feeds. Since YouTube v2 API support for users and channels is no longer available, users and channels produce a list of playlists that then show a list of videos for each playlists.

Know Client Issues and Limitations:

Roku app now supports user input. The Remoku can be helpful in entering URLs

Plex/Web (aka Media Manager)  - Plex/Web does not allow user entry so it will not show the add show icons. Therefore, you can watch videos you have added from another client, but you cannot add shows using Plex/Web.

You can now copy and paste the url address of a new feed you would like to add into the search box at the top of the screen to add the channel. You must be within the directory for the type of show you would like to add. For example if you opened of the video directory which shows all of your currently installed video feeds, then you can paste the url of the new feed you would like to add in the search box of that page. A dialog box will appear and tell you that the rss feed has been added.

Also because Plex/Web pulls from the cache and only updates once a day, unless you clear the cache of your web browser, changes you make to the Webisode channel will not show up for up to 24 hrs.

What this little app/channel can do, is simply to export your library sections into CSV files, allowing you to open up the exported files in like Excel or siml. afterwards.

Do note, that when doing so, to set the encoding to UTF-8.

This plug-in will always be considered "a work in progress", and will change rapidly, if devs get an idea, or you guy's suggest something, so fire away.
