I'm running PMS (Version 1.1.4.2757) on my iMac to send FOX video via DLNA through my BluRay player (Sony BDP-S390, wired connection to router) to my TV (LG 60PS11 plasma, not smart) via HDMI. I have Direct Stream and Direct Play disabled. Shows look fine in the Plex viewer, but when attempting to view over DLNA I get "The file is corrupt or unsupported." What can I do to make this work?

What this little app/channel can do, is simply to export your library sections into CSV files, allowing you to open up the exported files in like Excel or siml. afterwards.

i'm not sure why, but i am just not able to even LOCATE any 'Channels' on my Plex at all - am i missing something?

I have the following channels installed:

CBS

MSNBC

MTV

Spike

YouTube

NBC

For months now, I cannot get any of these channels to work on the web or on my Roku XD (2011) box. When I try to play the channel on the web:

- I click the channel (CBS for example)

- It gives me a list of shows and I choose one

- I choose Full Episodes

- I get the error "The media server responded with an error"

This happens with every channel, every show....everything.

If it makes a difference. I am running Windows 7x64, Plex 0.9.8.17.282-c844f09

I have zero problems playing my own media, just can't get the channels to work.

HelloHue for Plex and Philips Hue

Sync and control your Philips Hue lights with Plex!

Behavior

This channel detects when a media is playing, paused or stopped on your Plex Clients. Then it checks if it's a video, the client name, and the user who owns the stream. If it matches your criteria it triggers your lights with the actions you have set up.
You can also turn your lights on and off inside the channel.

Configuration

The config is pretty simple and only needs to be done once. Configure your settings following the details below.
One room is composed of one client, one or multiple users and one or multiple lights, as well as the actions : on play, on stop, on pause, dim value, and only trigger if it's dark outside.

• Plex.tv login is your Plex login.

• Plex.tv passwords is your Plex password. It is only sent to plex.tv to get an identification token (so you must have a working internet access).

• Plex Server Address is the local adress to reach your server.
• Philips Hue Bridge Address is the ip address of your Philips Bridge.
• Nearest city from your location Used to calculate to calculate sunrise/sunset hours at your location.
• Activate HelloHue in room 1 Tick to activate room 1 (and fill the client, users and lights settings for room 1).
• Name of plex client able to trigger in room 1 You can find the list of users in PMS -> settings -> devices. Only put ONE client per room. If your have two clients in the same room, activate an other room and fill the settings with the other clients name and the same lights names.
• Name of the users able to trigger in room 1 You can find the list of users in PMS -> settings -> users -> myhome. You can put multiple users (comma separated values, case sensitive).
• Name of the lights to trigger in room 1 is the list of lights that will be triggered in room 1. You can put multiple users (comma separated values, case sensitive).
• When a media is playing in room 1 is the action that will fire when a media is playing in room 1.
• When a media is paused in room 1 is the action that will fire when a media is paused in room 1.
• When a media is stopped in room 1 is the action that will fire when a media is stopped in room 1.
• Choose dim value in room 1 is the value your lights will dim to. (20 is the min brightness and 240 is max)
• Randomize hue and saturation on Dim/Turn On in room 1 will randomize your light color each time the action turn on or dim is fired.
• Only trigger lights if it's dark outside in room 1 Tick to only trigger your lights between sunrise and sunset.
• Activate HelloHue in room 2 Same thing as Activate HelloHue in room 1 ...
• ...

Usage

How to install:

• go to Library/Application Support/Plex Media Server/Plug-ins/

• If existing, delete HelloHue.bundle

• get the release you want from https://github.com/ledge74/HelloHue/releases
• unzip the release
• restart your plex media server!!!

On first run:

1. Configure your Channel preferences (see above for help, make sure that you are connected to the internet as the channel will request a token from plex.tv)
2. Go to the channel (on any device)
3. If you see, Press button and your bridge and click to connect click on this menu AFTER having pressed the physical button of your bridge.
4. The click on Advanced --> Restart HelloHue
5. If you see the menu My Lights then you are all good!
6. Enjoy :)

Use the channel:

• My Lights allows you to trigger your lights from the channel

• Enable HelloHue disable the channel (stop listening to items being played)

• Disable HelloHue resumes the channel (start listening to items being played)
• Advanced --> ```Restart HelloHue`` takes into account your new Plex.TV login/password if you updated it in the channel settings.

Known issues

• When stopping a media on PHT (for mac), the action will take some time (a few minutes). This is linked to a bug in PHT or PMS. --> use OpenPHT to fix this issue

Plex Request Channel

So I wanted to let my users request movies and TV Shows to be added to my server, but I didn't want to install another service so I made a Plex Channel for it. Plex Channel Development isn't the greatest but I think it works well enough.

Features:

• Allow users to search OpenMovieDatabase, TheMovieDatabase, TVDB for movies and tv shows, retrieving summaries and posters.
• Manage the requests from users in one central location
• Couchpotato and Sonarr support is integrated for automation. New: Manage Sonarr shows from within the plugin.
• Pushbullet, Pushover, Email support is also included for notifications whenever a new request is made.

This will be a beta release so it may not be completely stable yet.

I have only tested this with PlexWeb and Android, so there may be more bugs on other platforms. Sometimes Plex won't want to show posters so you might have to manually change from list to another view format. Also in PlexWeb when entering in input, you have to use the searchbar, a new textbox won't pop up. On other platforms there you click the link and a box should pop up. The default Pushover key will have a limit of 7,000 hits per month, if you want to avoid this, you can use your own Pushover keys.

Let me know if there are bugs and feel free to fork the project on GitHub. If anyone would like to create some more icons that would be great as well.

I am in UK, tried lots of different devices and it really does appear something is fundamentally wrong as streaming video channels either dont work or do not work properly. I have noticed this for the past 3 or 4 days.
Is this exclusively me? Tried all the obvious and nothing has changed. Anyone else has this problem?

I was unable to find a plugin that would allow me to play custom streams, so after days of learning Python, with help of shopgirl284, Mikedm139 and examples found on this forum, I created my first Plex plugin; I present You Plex plugin that plays network streams (a.k.a. IPTV) from a M3U playlist:

OneTechGenius also made a video guide on how to set up various Plex channels including this one, You can find it on Youtube, a written version is also available.

Included sample playlist is outdated. You can find some playlists scattered along this thread (like posts #388, #399, #407, #417, #457, #500, #501 and so on) or just google for them.

 At the moment plugin supports HTTP and RTSP streaming protocols, RTMP also works with some limitations, and MMS did not work for me on any device, some users report that it works in Android and Plex Web.

Please keep in mind that this plugin does not actually play videos by itself, it only passes links to Plex in a format understandable to Plex and the playback is done by Plex client, and it is a known fact that Plex Media Server does not transcode live streams so you might need a third party transcoder like VODServer if client is unable to transcode streams by itself, please read post #97 (especially Apple TV owners) and compatibility section of readme file for more information.

If plugin does not work for You or You don't like it or don't like Plex, but still want to watch IPTV on your Smart TV or other device, You can check post #194 for alternative solutions, but in any way please consider making a small donation if I was of any help for You.

What is this?

UnSupportedServices.bundle (USS):

This plugin creates a new system Services channel in Plex Media Server (PMS) to supplement the current official Services.bundle. The intent of this channel is to keep a centralized list of hosts available to multiple channels just as the current Services bundle does.

I plan to make a few channels that will require this UnSupported Services channel. Since PMS service code is delegated via alphanumeric listing, this will solve the issue created when making channels that require the same video host.

UnSupportedServicesTools.bundle (USST):

This plugin creates a new channel in PMS to manage the installation and future updates of the UnSupportedServices.bundle. The intent of this channel is to keep a clean install of the UnSupportedServices.bundle inbetween updates.

Why not use WebTools UASv2?

Two main reasons:

1. After the USS installs, currently running plugins with service code need to be refreshed
2. After a USS upgrade, the System.bundle needs to be restarted to correctly register the new service code

Currently, WebTools UASv2 only tires to refresh the channel being installed. Since this is service code and has no __init__.py file, it refreshes nothing and returns no error. If it at least returned an error then the WebTools is setup to restart the System.bundle upon a refresh error.

Thus I spent time (heavily borrowing from Plex's source code) to recreate proper install and update procedures for service code plugins.

Why not submit my Service code to the official Services.bundle?

At the time I started creating the USS plugin, the official Services.bundle was only updated with every PMS release. As of PMS v0.9.17.2 the Services.bundle is now dynamically updated independently of PMS releases. This would potentially make my UnSupportedServices.bundle unnecessary. For now, I'm going to continue to pursue implementing the UnSupportedServices.bundle, but may someday work at getting its code integrated into the official Services.bundle and phase out this plugin.

Notes

If there are copyright issues in regards to reusing some of Plex's source code, then please let me know what needs to be done. Honestly, I far more enjoy writing up the service code for video hosts instead of creating the custom installer. Really, the installer has been a frustrating issue for me over the past couple of months, hence the [BETA] release instead of a normal [REL].

If you want to use the USS along side your own channel, then here is an example I'm currently working on.

1. If parsing your channels metadata, then send both the site URL and the host URL as one string to your URL Service code
2. Make a function to split the site and host URLs (within the service code) so that the host URL can be used with the MediaObjectsForURL function and the site URL will be used with the MetadataObjectForURL function
3. Parse for the hosted metadata (ie. write a MetadataObjectForURL)
4. Follow the example to use the Service code to correctly parse and return the video links for MediaObjectsForURL function

You can also forgo writing service code and directly add URLService.MetadataObjectForURL(url) to your __init__.py code in-place-of a VideoClipObject().

If further explanation is needed just ask. I do plan on writing up a Wiki page later to give a more detailed explanation, and may write an example channel for others to follow.

If your Android device does not work and gets the error, "An error occured while attempting to play this video. Please try restarting both the Plex Media Server and this app." do the following:

On your Plex server, find the file Android.xml and change the following line:

to

<VideoProfile protocol="hls" container="mpegts" codec="h264" audioCodec="mp3" context="streaming" />

Restart your Plex server. Please be aware this may break other transcoding (it did for me).

Hey Guys,

only music i listen to is from the app on my phone(Free). I tried to drag and drop, tried to DL the content to my laptop. Amazon said that was a nogo, as i do not own the music. lol. How  can i get all that content from amazon prime here to plex. While i have you here also. I watch all my TV programming through Kodi. Can i transfer content from there to Plex also ?

Are there other ways to watch movies, TV besides the ""Channels" ?

I will no longer be maintaining this plugin going forward. It still functions correctly however free accounts will stop working after 45 days. You will either need to sign up for a new free account or use a paid account.

Setup:

Plex Server on Ubuntu Version > 0.9.16.6
Plex client on Samsung Smart TV or Android app on phone
Latest version of ITV Player Channel

After upgrading to any higher version, I am able to see the content in the ITV Player Channel, and select an episode, but after it starts playing it has no sound and within a few seconds it errors out stating that it cannot play the audio codec "unknown" and to try transcoding.

I tried ensuring that the client was set to always transcode and the same error.

I tried the most recent version of Plex (1.1.4) and then started stepping down versions until I found one that worked. The most recent working version is 0.9.16.6

Any suggestions?

Is there a 3rd party shudder channel https://www.shudder.com/ for plex or any plans to develop one in the near future. this is supposed to be a great channel from what I have read reviews on. Thanks

The ABC channel is showing that it's empty again. I've confirmed this on both the Plex and Plex preview channels on the Roku as well as my Android device.

ComicReader is a Plex Channel that allows you to serve comic book archives that are stored on your server.

Currently it supports CBZ, CBR, and CB7 comic archives. CBZ is supported natively, while CBR and CB7 require unrar and 7zip. See the Readme on github for details.

The channel doesn't use a database or metadata, it just acts like a file browser that starts at the directory you specify in the channels preferences.
