What I want to be able to do is DVR OTA channels from my Shield Pro (2017) model, and be able to watch them in a different room (on IOS devices and Apple TV 4's) and away from home (on IOS devices).
I have Plex installed on my Shield Pro, and I did some setup on my Mac. I've done some DVR setup on my Mac, and the program guide has been downloaded and I can see it on my Mac.
1) Can the guide that I now see on my Mac also be viewed on the Shield Pro, or an Apple TV 4?
When I go into the guide and click on a show listed as "On Right Now", the record options are displayed and I just click Record without making any changes. A quick message is displayed saying that the show is being recorded. Then I go to the "Recording Schedule" and it shows the show I was trying to record, but with a triangle inside a circle, and when I hover over that I get a message saying "The recording was aborted". This seems to happen almost instantaneously right after I start the recording.
I am almost certain that I did not set something up correctly, but I have absolutely no idea what. I knew absolutely nothing about Plex before I started trying to do this.
I've read something about adding channels, but I have no idea what that means, how to do it, or if I need to do it in order for any of this to work.
I am able to view OTA programs on my TV via the "Live Channels" app and the HDHomeRun app, and I can DVR to my 500GB internal hard drive on my Shield Pro. I thought that maybe if I recorded that way that those recordings would end up in Plex, but it doesn't seem to work that way, as I have several recordings made with "Live Channels" DVR that aren't showing up in my "TV Shows" folder.
Also, within Settings > Remote Access, I get a message saying "Not available outside your network. Your server is signed in to Plex, but is not reachable from outside your network" and I'm not sure what I need to do to enable access.
I really need a "Plex setup guide for complete idiots" I think.
